SUPPORT THE SOCIOLOGY DEPARTMENT ON BU GIVING DAY
Thanks to your generous support, BU Sociology has continued our departmental seminar and work-in-progress series, offered expanded support for graduate and undergraduate research, and showcased our honors’ students independent research. Your contributions will provide direct funding to our department. Your generosity will help us maintain and foster a vibrant, research community in a variety of ways:
• Offer research fellowships for our undergraduate and graduate students;
• Sustain scholarship support for undergraduates pursuing graduate school;
• Host departmental lectures and events;
• Maintain an “emergency” fund for students with unexpected financial needs
• Improve the offices in which we work and socialize;
• Support faculty members’ research and teaching.
Contributions of any level are sincerely appreciated and will make an important impact. Every gift counts!
• If 50 undergraduate majors each gave $20, they could support one annual Promise Grant.
• If 25 graduate students each gave $40, they could defray the costs of an undergraduate honors student’s travel to and participation at the American Sociological Association annual meeting.
• If 15 faculty each gave $200, they could support a graduate student’s travel abroad to collect data for their dissertation research.
• If 25 alumni each gave $200, the department could host a workshop for an assistant professor developing their first-ever book manuscript, bringing in a team of world-class scholars to share their feedback.
