SUPPORT YOUR CAUSE ON BU GIVING DAY

If you’ve ever worked with recent college graduates, you know what a difference it can make if they had the chance to do real work in an internship or fellowship while they were still in school. That combination of academic and practical experience launches graduates with a clearer understanding of the work they’re going to do, gives them a head start on building their careers, and prepares them to start making substantial contributions to the world immediately after graduation.

PardeeWorks events and workshops specifically focus on international careers, both in the United States and abroad. The regular series of speaking events bring working professionals to campus to present on their chosen careers in more depth. Recent speakers have covered everything from national security to international education and the U.S. Department of Commerce. The program’s annual Global Career Symposium is a a day filled with enlightening panel discussions and networking opportunities.

Career trips take graduate students to Washington D.C. and New York City each year to explore careers in global affairs. Students and accompanying faculty visit think tanks, NGOs, UN Missions, businesses, and government agencies to meet with high-level policymakers and practitioners of international affairs. Students also enjoy numerous opportunities to network with BU and Pardee School alumni.

Internships also help students explore a variety of career options and choose the best fit for their interests and skills. In many fields where our students hope to work, the first step is an internship with a nonprofit. However, these internships are often unpaid so many students are stuck weighting the benefits of an opportunity that might set them on their desired career path with the personal costs that come with pursuing it. The Michael T. Corgan Internship and Career Fund awards a stipend to students for qualified, high-impact internships in the area of international affairs. Your gift can provide stipends for talented students in need, making it possible for them to choose a great but unpaid internship instead of having to take a paying job.

The Pardee School is proud of its current offerings, but our goal is to facilitate more opportunities for students to network and plan their careers before graduating. With your help we can expand and build PardeeWorks with more frequent workshops and more international guests, finance more career building trips, and connect students with more opportunities to set them up for professional success.
