In the Department of Chemistry, we bring our passion for the field into the classroom through innovative teaching methods and courses that reflect what Chemistry is, and how it is practiced today. Outside the classroom, we support our students as they participate in ground-breaking research and seek out opportunities to learn, network and share their own discoveries. Today, we ask for your support to help us expand this impact.
What are some ways we put your gifts to use?
Buying supplies for a lab. Experiential learning is vital to our students’ education. Sponsoring a lab allows us to buy supplies and equipment to enable an advanced lab experience.
Sponsoring a student to attend a conference. Conferences offer invaluable learning and networking experiences and are a vital part of becoming part of the scientific community.
Offering a student a summer research fellowship. Summer is a time of great collaboration and activities in our labs and offering student’s this hands-on experience is a priceless part of the learning experience.
Please consider donating any amount as every dollar helps us get closer to our goal of delivering these programs to our students.

Make your own Chemistry Mocktail!
MAKE YOUR OWN CHEMISTRY MOCKTAIL!
Rosemary Reaction Smash
Materials
- 7-8 blueberries
- 1 rosemary sprig, stripped
- 1 oz honey syrup
- 1 oz fresh lemon juice, strained
- 4 oz soda water
- Ice
Procedure
First make the honey syrup using a ratio of 1:1 v/v honey and water. Gently triturate the blueberries, rosemary leaves, and honey syrup in an Erlenmeyer flask or cocktail shaker. Add lemon juice and stir or shake in the cocktail shaker for 10 s. Filter through a mesh strainer into a tall glass of fresh ice. Top with soda water and stir to incorporate. Take off safety goggles and enjoy!
