SUPPORT THE CENTER FOR THE STUDY OF EUROPE ON BU GIVING DAY

The Center for the Study of Europe at Boston University and the Pardee School brings together faculty, students, international visitors, and others with interests in Europe across a variety of disciplines and coordinates the BA and minor in European Studies. The mission of the Center is to promote a critical understanding of Europe through its complex heritage, which owes its richness to countless contributions from other regions of the world. We explore Europe’s legal, political, economic, and religious histories; its art, literature, music, and philosophy; its experimentation with new forms of governance, such as the ones developed by the European Union; its complicity in the production of global injustice; and its many redeeming possibilities. In an increasingly multipolar world, we believe Europe can only be understood in relation to other sites of socio-cultural production, political engagement, and economic transformation.

Each year the Center offers a rich program of activities including public lectures and panel discussions, international symposia and conferences, film screenings and concerts, seminars, round-tables, and lunch talks. Participants have included well-known scholars, politicians, policy experts, and journalists as well as artists, poets, activists, and public intellectuals.

Your support makes the Center’s events and activities possible. Events in Europe over the last year have shown the importance of educating students so they have a greater understanding of this part of the world, and will be prepared to make a difference both while they are at Pardee and after they graduate.
