HELP US STOCK THE BU PANTRY
Many college students struggle to afford enough food to eat, and BU students are no exception. Food insecurity can affect their health, academic performance, and wellbeing. That’s why Student Wellbeing has established the BU Food Pantry, a place where students in need can get free shelf stable foods.
But we can’t do this alone. We need your help to keep the pantry stocked and running. Your donation will make a difference in the lives of many BU students who are facing episodic food insecurity.
MATCH EXTENDED! Thank you for helping us hit our goal of $5,000 today! Let's keep the momentum going. Our challenge donor has extended the Food Pantry dollar-for-dollar match up to $10,000. Double your impact and help us hit our new $10,000 goal!
DOUBLE YOUR IMPACT
Below are just a few examples of the kind of tangible impact your Giving Day gift could make on the BU Food Pantry:
$20 provides a student with a week’s worth of staple items.
$50 fully stocks the rice shelf for a week.
$60 fully stocks the peanut butter shelf for a week.
$100 provides groceries for 5 students for a week of staple items.
$1,000 stocks the entire pantry for a week.
And on Giving Day, your gift goes further. Thanks to a challenge grant from Christina Cotton (LAW'90), the first $10,000 raised for the BU Food Pantry are being matched, dollar-for-dollar, doubling the impact of your support. Help us unlock these challenge funds by making your gift to the BU Food Pantry today.
HISTORY OF THE BU FOOD PANTRY
BU has a long history of supporting the food needs of its community, starting from the Student Food Rescue program in 1988 to the Community Cares and Community Cupboard food pantries in 2019 and 2020. These initiatives aimed to address food insecurity in our community and ensure everyone has access to food.
In 2022, the new office of Student Wellbeing launched a centralized approach to food support. Thanks to cross-campus partnerships and funding from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) through the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education, Student Wellbeing has been focused on educating students about food resources and providing food through the BU Food Pantry.
